1848 Volunteering Programme

After a highly successful year of volunteering, our 1848 Volunteer Project has been granted further funding by Scottish Government People and Communities Fund, allowing us to go on offering volunteering opportunities, employability support and training to unemployed residents in the Southside of Glasgow.  Our project is now able to focus on the wider area of the Southside of Glasgow and is open to people of all ages.

Previous participants have: gained experience in mechanics, coaching, administration, IT and events allowing them to develop their work experience; been supported to source longer term volunteering placements in an area of their choice; developed their confidence by participating in activities and training; achieved accredited qualifications in Health and Safety, First Aid, Child Protection, Play on Pedals, Velotech, Cycle Ride Leading and Bikeability; received employability support to develop their CV, applications, interview and job searching skills; been given a bike to commute freely and easily; and provided with financial support to purchase work and interview clothes and attend external training.

Our aim is to offer individuals the chance to give back to their community and in return provide them with the support they need to move forward into a positive destination.  64% of last years’ volunteers were able to move on to employment, education, further volunteering or work related training showing we have the track record to help you achieve your goals.
