Funding News for 1848 Volunteer Project!

We are delighted to announce that the 1848 Volunteer Project will continue to be supported by Scottish Government People and Communities fund during 2017-2018!

Over the last 2 years, the funding we have received from Scottish Government PCF has enabled us to support over 70 volunteers!  During that time our volunteers have accumulated 2772 hours of voluntary time, with nearly 1000 of those hours directly benefiting the community.  If you’ve been to our cycling centre you might have met one of our volunteers in the workshop, went on a cycle with them, been served a cuppa in the cafe or witnessed our admin support diligently working through paperwork. In the community, our volunteers have supported our mechanics and coaches: either getting you on two wheels or keeping you on!

Volunteering can be an excellent stepping stone into work, further training or education.  Since June 2015, we have supported 25 volunteers into employment, 15 into further training and 8 into further education.  This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Scottish Government PCF and of course, our volunteers, who not only support us but support each other on their journey!
